This Porton Lot from Hacienda La Esmeralda is one of those coffees.

Selected because it captures the combination of floral complexity, clarity and sweetness that has defined the Esmeralda name for nearly two decades, this is a coffee that feels both familiar and remarkable at the same time. It represents one of the most influential coffee estates in history and a harvest that continues to set the benchmark for what Gesha can be.

In the cup, jasmine and orange blossom lead the aromatics before opening into layers of ripe tropical fruit, stone fruit sweetness and delicate citrus. The texture is silky and refined, with a tea-like elegance that carries through a long, lingering finish.

The Peterson family’s Hacienda La Esmeralda, located in the highlands of Boquete, Panama, is widely credited with introducing Gesha to the global coffee stage. Today, their coffees remain among the most sought-after in the world, not because of reputation alone, but because they continue to deliver extraordinary quality year after year.

For this lot, carefully selected ripe cherries were processed as a natural, allowing the fruit to slowly dry around the seed and build depth, sweetness and aromatic complexity while preserving the transparency that has become synonymous with Esmeralda Gesha.
