Helmed by father & daughter, Ricardo & Victoria Koyner, Kotowa farms steward a living coffee heritage where they let the land lead as they nurture their family’s agricultural legacy that began more than a century ago. It started in 1913, when Alexander Duncan Macintyre, a Canadian immigrant with a deep love for natural landscapes and its possibilities, read about Panama’s cloud-kissed mountains and ventured to the country to establish his first farm in the Boquete highlands, naming it Kotowa, after the locals’ word for mountains.

Four generations in, Alexander’s legacy is alive and thriving under the care of Ricardo and Victoria, who now tend to nine estates using regenerative practices to ensure the vitality of their inheritance so it may endure far beyond their own time.

Repeatedly recognized among the Best of Panama’s auction lots since 2004, 2025 saw their two farms, the breakthrough Silvia Marina and the multi-awarded Las Brujas, respectively placing at 10th Place Geisha Washed and 17th Place Geisha Natural.
