    Product Details

This is a jammy and syrupy SL28 grown in the highlands of Huila, Colombia, with flavors of wild berries, hibiscus, grapes, and a clean tangerine finish. A rare take on the Kenyan-born SL28 variety, cultivated with care and precision by Maria Rodriguez at her farm, Finca Betania.

    Producer and Farm

    • Producer: Maria Eugenio Rodriguez

    • Farm: Finca Betania

    • Region: Palestina, Huila

    • Altitude: 1650 masl

    • Variety: SL28

Maria has earned recognition in Colombia’s Cup of Excellence competitions, where her coffees have consistently stood out for their clarity and structure. At Finca Betania, she works closely with her team to refine harvest and processing practices, ensuring every lot expresses both terroir and varietal character.

    Process Details

The SL28 is harvested at peak ripeness and carefully floated to remove defective cherries. The cherries are then depulped without water and left for a 48-hour dry fermentation, which develops depth and fruit complexity. After fermentation, the coffee is washed and transferred to a slow drying stage lasting 24 days, allowing sugars and acidity to stabilize. Finally, the beans are rested in bags for 10 days before being prepared for export. The result is a layered, fruit-driven cup with clarity and balance.

    Why This Lot Matters

SL28 is most often associated with Kenya, yet in Colombia it takes on a different dimension: rounder sweetness, more jammy fruit, and a softer acidity. This coffee represents both Maria’s dedication to quality and the adaptability of SL28 in new terroirs.

    Sizes and Brewing Suggestions

Available in 50g tasting bags, 250g jars, and 1kg bags. We recommend filter brewing methods like V60 or Orea Baby-O to highlight the fruit sweetness, or as an adventurous espresso for a bright, juicy shot.
