Some coffees take me straight back to competition days. Around 2013, I remember brewing naturals like Aricha from David Haugaard, Guji from Johan & Nyström, and those beautiful roasts by Per Nordby at DaMatteo. That was when I really fell for Ethiopian naturals — and honestly, 15 years later, nothing has changed.


This new lot from Shoondhisa in Shakiso, produced by Ture Waji, ticks every single box for me. It opens with delicate florals that flow into crisp, grape-like acidity. Juicy peach and ripe berries sit at the core, with a sweet citrus brightness tying it together. The mouthfeel is smooth and velvety, leaving a long, elegant finish that lingers beautifully.


For me, this is everything a natural Ethiopian should be.
